The Legend of 13-0
In 1916 four Texas A&M Aggies kidnapped the t.u. mascot and branded “13-0” on its side as a reminder of the outcome of the 1915 football game between the teams. In an attempt to mask their shame, t.u. rebranded “13-0” to spell the name they have continued to use for their bovine mascot. Due to the longhorn’s unruly antics, legend says the original “13-0” mascot was eaten at a football banquet in 1920.
While they may boast of their mascot’s altered name, the real name and brand shall always be known.
